Just a Personal Note

Dear Future Bluebird Landlord,

I remember the first time I ever saw a pair of bluebirds. It was in March after returning from a trip to Florida with my family. The weather was just starting to warm up in Indiana and my family and I were sitting out on the back porch enjoying the sun.

My dad and I had put up a homemade bluebird nest box in the back yard a few weeks into February while there was still a little bit of snow on the ground. We barely knew what we were doing, but we were hoping for the best.

As I sat there on the porch, I noticed a flash of blue flutter over near the nest box. I looked over and two bluebirds were actually sitting right on top of it! To me, they seemed to act confident, as if they knew the nest box was meant for them. (They must have claimed the box while we were gone on vacation). I had never seen any bluebirds before that moment, and I was shocked that our little nest box had actually worked.

It brought me so much joy to watch those bluebirds out the window that summer almost 20 years ago. I’d watch them go in and out of the nest box all day long bringing food to their young. That’s the same joy I want to help you experience, and I hope I can help get you there.

Enjoy the Bluebird Landlord Audio Guide!
